Auditions

HPYS welcomes all traditional orchestral instruments including:

• Woodwinds: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon.
• Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass.
• Brass (senior only): French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, and Tuba.
• Percussion (senior only): Timpani, mallet percussion, and other instruments.

As piano, saxophone and classical guitar are occasionally part of our ensembles, students of these instruments are also encouraged to contact the Symphony.

Audition Music

The following audition sheets are recommended for the Senior Orchestra level. They are NOT required. Students at all levels are encouraged to prepare works that they feel most comfortable with.

Listed below are only the most commonly auditioned instruments. If you do not see your instrument listed, but would like to audition using one of these sheets, please contact Music Director William White at 847-651-5055 or director@hpys.org and one will be provided.

Please disregard the 2006 date on the sheets—they are still suitable for the 2007 auditions.
