Family Potluck Dinner: October 18, 6:15, HP Union Church

Bring your favorite dish and meet other HPYS families! Rehearsal will end early and the dinner will start at 6:30. A great chance to talk with other young musicians, parents, and the HPYS staff.

Holiday Concert, December 8, Little Black Pearl
For the Annual Holiday Concert, HPYS will once again join forces with the Chicago Children’s Choir for a major concert at Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center. A youth arts organization, Little Black Pearl recently opened doors at its beautiful new facility on 47th Street. The concert will feature works by Vivaldi and many Holiday favorites!


 

Winter Concert: March 2, 3:00 PM, DuSable Museum

HPYS returns to the DuSable Museum of African American History (located at 56th and Cottage Grove in Washington Park) for another Winter Concert. The Senior Symphony’s repertoire will focus on classical masters and feature selections from Scott Joplin's rarely heard opera, Treemonisha.

Spring Benefit: May 3, 7:30 PM, At the Rosner Residence

The Spring Benefit is another chance for HPYS students and families to get to know one another better, as well as to do some serious fundraising for the orchestra! The evening's entertainment is provided by chamber ensembles from the Senior Symphony along with a special guest soloist.

Spring Concert: May 18, 3:00 PM, Union Church of Hyde Park (5600 S. Woodlawn Ave.)

HPYS’s final concert of the year features the winner(s) of the Claire Despres Oppenheim Concerto Competition. The Senior Symphony’s repertoire will focus on the music of the Romantic period and feature selections by some of the greatest writers for the Broadway stage: Gershwin, Bernstein and Sondheim.
